Helen Leah Frank

Helen Leah Frank

You knew her as Leah but her given name was Helen. Even her husband, Harry, was shocked to learn this on their wedding day. Though they both graduated from Paulsboro High in 1941, they didn’t become acquainted till years later when they quietly began dating as payroll employees at Mobile Oil. She had a gift for working with numbers: years after leaving Mobile, Leah could recite SS numbers and payroll numbers of most of the employees. Music was in her DNA: as a child Leah learned to play the piano from her mother, an accomplished pianist. She played popular tunes and big band melodies to entertain family, friends. She moved as fluidly as she played enjoying both ballroom and square-dancing. She traveled the world and lived in Venezuela for 6 years, but when she got the opportunity to return to her old home in Swedesboro, she refused to ever leave. Her old neighbors and classmates made her too comfortable.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, Harry, Leah is survived by sons, Karl and Brian.
Family will celebrate 90 great years at a private burial.
