Jean Wallace

Jean Wallace

From the days of her youth, Jean’s perfect day always centered on soaking in the rays in Harvey Cedars. She was always a kid at heart: at Disney she rode the coasters, and enjoyed crabbing at the Jersey Shore. It didn’t matter what she was cooking, a little Manischewitz made it better. Her cheesecake was famous and her macaroni salad was divine. Though she gave away her recipe, no one else’s tastes quite as good. When her grandchildren visited, her cooking style changed to soft boiled eggs, grilled cheese, and chocolate milk. She had an affinity for pretty things: she collected bells and lighthouses. People close to her received handmade angels to watch over them. As a secretary she kept everything straight at Wooden Insurance. Retirement found her traveling by train and motorhome. She visited everywhere from New Jersey to New Mexico and Canada.

On a weekend trip to Riverside, the Philly girl was introduced to a young Albert Wallace. They were married for 63 years until Albert’s recent passing in November 2013. They were blessed with two children, Glenn (Jennie) of Riverside and Gary (Margaret) of Riverside; grandchildren, Amy Glassmire (Leo) of Delran, Glenn Wallace Jr. of Riverside, Rachael Wallace of Delran and Kayla and Nicholas Wallace of Riverside; and her great-grandchild, Rachael Wallace; her cousins were more like brothers and sisters: Joan McHugh of Harvey Cedars, Shirley Astemborski of Delanco and Robert Yoos of New Mexico.

Funeral Services celebrating 85 great years(October 3, 1928-January 8, 2014) will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers a charity of your choice may be chosen in Jean’s name.
