Josephine M. Borger

Josephine M. Borger

Josephine Borger passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in her home with her loving family by her side.

Josephine was a good catholic woman, and it was reflected in her life. She had a deeply generous and considerate nature which inspired her to constantly think of others before herself. It was one of the reasons she was always ready to do volunteer work. Even after retiring as a Bookkeeper for Zubrugg Hospital, she still volunteered there as well as at Deborah Hospital and was always ready to lend a hand for anything at St. Peter’s Church. Josephine would pass these values on to her own children. She had the strength to raise six daughters, while instilling in them both the values of the church and the tenacity to become strong women themselves. Likewise, they carry on her love of family as a whole.

As a young woman Josephine met a gentleman named Joseph Borger at a church dance. Fortunately they both loved to dance, and had even won a few jitterbug contests. By 1951 the two were wed, and a few years later moved to Riverside from Philadelphia. Before Joe’s passing in 2002, their 50 year marriage was blessed by their daughters: Christine Borger of Pleasantville, Maureen Basehore (Tom) of Shamong, JoAnn Epstein (Herb) of Medford, Gerri Troiano (the late Troy) of Northfield, Beth Ann Magown (Craig) of Westampton and the late Francine Borger, and again by their grandchildren: Tom, Kyle, Brandon, Steven, Jesse and Julie. Josephine is also the sister of John Morgan, Kathleen Rice and the late Margaret Burger and Mary Sivo.

Come celebrate Josephine’s 86 wonderful years (Mar. 19, 1927-Apr. 9, 2013) Friday from 7-9 PM and Saturday from 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.
